Letter of Introduction

Gary Steiger
Palatine High School
1111 N. Rowhling Rd.
Palatine IL, 60074

Mr. Steiger,

I am writing with the hopes of reintegrating to Palatine High School. I was placed at Academy-North in October of 2014 for problems following directions and being physically aggressive. I also struggled with truancies  I was in fights because people aggravated and disrespected me. When I felt that I had been disrespected, sometimes I got so angry that I would snap- looking back, I often did not even remember what I had done. At the time, I had a hard time calming myself down and controlling my emotions.

Since arriving at Academy-North I have learned to calm my self down and control my self. by walking away from situations and working through my emotions with staff members. I had the opportunity to participate at a work site at the Buehler YMCA and work with students with disabilities. I have learned patience and team work. The worksite also helped me to find a job in the community. I am now focused on my future and completing high school.

If I am permitted to return to Palatine, it would reflect my changed perspective- I would be focused on graduation and my school work. I would also be interested in taking the building/ construction class. I will use what I learned at Academy-North to better handle my frustrations better. I will choose my peers more carefully, and if I become frustrated, I will work to not make the situation worse. I will speak to my therapist or Ms. Weith, rather than taking things into my own hands.

Thank you for considering me for reintegration.

Sincerely,

Victor Serrano
